BANNER "DRAW THE CIRCLE WIDE"
HANGING IN CHANCEL
Acrylic on a Window Blind
1.7 M x 1.7 M      67 x 67 inches

The banner interprets the Theme Year
"Draw the Circle Wide"
which reflects to congregation's purpose to become more inclusive and reach out to the community and the world.

The phrase comes from the chorus of a favourite hymn by Gordon Light:
Draw the circle wide,
Draw it wider still.
Let this be our song,
No-one stands alone,
Standing side by side,
Draw the circle wide.

The banner symbolizes the spirit of St. Andrew's
going out into the world,
as in the chorus and in the next two verses:

1. God the still point of the circle,
'Round whom all creation turns;
Nothing lost, but held forever,
In God's gracious arms.

2. Let our hearts touch far horizons,
So encompass great and small;
Let our loving know no borders,
Faithful to God's call.*
