This lighthouse stood on Quaker Island until it burned in 1937. Quaker Island is a "mark" island for the entrance to one of the yacht harbours in Mahone Bay. The source for this painting was black and white photographs, courtesy of the Nova Scotia Archives and Records Management. It is one of a series on historic lighthouses.
